Testimony of Jane Moehlenpah

In March 2006 Arlo and I were in Bloomington, Minnesota where he was to speak on Sunday morning. I heard some of the people were following a challenge published by Zondervan to read the Bible through in 90 days. I was impressed by the statement it only required reading 12 pages a day.

During the morning service a young mother with small children was asked to tell how the challenge was affecting her. She told us she kept her Bible handy and read it whenever she had quiet time – especially while her children napped, and emphasized that her reading was impacting her life.

I decided to take the challenge myself. At that time in the BREAD program I was in I Chronicles and also Acts. Arlo was scheduled to teach at a church in Wisconsin and we would be in a motel for over a week.

Zondervan had a slimline NIV Bible they were selling to use while following the challenge along with a printed schedule for the 90 days. But I just used the Bible I had and counted out 12 pages. It took about 45 minutes to an hour. I didn’t have any other responsibilities while Arlo studied, so I often read more – sometimes 24 pages or 36 pages. I always read to the end of a chapter.

I began to get a better idea of how the prophets fit into the times of the kings and how often God emphasized that He made everything alone. I never paced myself to read a letter from my friends in portions over several days. I always read it through when I received it. This time I read each “letter from Paul” through in one sitting.

I read I Chronicles through Revelation from mid-March to the end of April. It has made a difference in my life.

The WORD of God IS quick and powerful. I know if you’ll read it, whether in sips – reading a small portion each day, or in big gulps like I did– it can change your life.

To read in another version or listen to the portion of scripture click here. In the "Search by Passage" box type the book of the Bible and the chapter (e.g. Gen 37). Also, select the version  and then click "go."  For the OT only the KJV, and NIV versions have voice available. For the NT only the CEV, ESV,  NASB & NIV versions have voice available.

After listening to and/or reading the scripture you may wish to answer the related study questions for each chapter and take the quizzes for each book of the Bible.
